OMG, I got handed a musical baton!

Marten thought it’d be funny to hand me a musical baton, so I guess I’ll have to pass it on and answer some questions then…

Total volume of music files on my computer…

tjaard@anahata:/mnt/data/audio$ du -sh
5.0G .

…but does this matter? Most of these are ogg files I created from my cds (I still wonder why, they just take up space), an audio media that is not, I repeat, not dead. I have sensitive ears and prefer listening to music not crippled by any compression on a decent amp, cd player and speakers. Therefore I find this question pretty ridiculous.

The last cd I bought was…
KОЯN - Take a Look in the Mirror

Song playing right now…
Faaaahrn auf der Autooobaaahn…. (Kraftwerk; I like Dentaku, Computer Love and The Robots from that album better though)

Five songs I listen to a lot/mean a lot to me…
Hmmm…. defining songs is a bit hard, I need to mention some albums here too. But the songs (those meaning something):

  1. Radiohead - Karma Police (from OK Computer)
  2. Tool - The Patient (from Lateralus)
  3. Placebo - Every me, every you (from Without you I’m nothing, which sadly has a very poor recording quality)
  4. Papa Roach - Getting away with murder (from… Getting away with murder, how did you guess?)
  5. Rammstein - Seemann (from Herzeleid)

However, I think that good music comes as an album that has been carefully compiled so that it becomes a piece of art in its own right. I can listen endlessly to albums from A Perfect Circle, Radiohead, Godspeed you black emperor and Giardini di Mirò. And Tool of course ;) .

The five people where this meme will go on…
Well, the stick needs to be passed on then (curse you, Marten ;) )… it seems I need to pick some people that actually have a blog (so a lot of my friends are ruled out), but I think these five will do just fine:

  • Marjolein, who likes 80s stuff
  • Mark IJbema, just to get him inspired to post something again
  • Zef Hemel, because I’m curious what’s inside that iPod sock of his
  • Jonathan Stanley cuz he’s really helpful with all kinds of WP stuff :)
  • Ben Branders, who may be quite happy about this thing because of this
